Why Study in Germany?

Germany is Europe’s economic and industrial powerhouse, internationally celebrated for engineering excellence, technology innovation, research funding, and low-cost public higher education. For Indian students, Germany provides top-tier academic degrees with minimal educational debt and an attractive 18-month post-study career pathway.

APS Certificate & Blocked Account (Sperrkonto)

Studying in Germany involves two mandatory compliance steps for Indian citizens:

1. Mandatory APS India Certificate

The Akademische Prüfstelle (APS) verifies academic transcripts, degree credentials, and language tests from India. Without a valid APS certificate, German universities cannot finalize admission and the German Embassy/VFS will not accept your visa application. EduLeaf assists with complete APS document formatting and submission.

2. German Blocked Account (Sperrkonto)

To secure your German Student Visa (National Visa Type D), you must deposit mandatory living funds of €11,904 per year (€992 per month) into a government-approved blocked account provider (Expatrio, Coracle, or Fintiba).

Germany Study Visa & APS FAQs

Are public universities in Germany really tuition-free for Indian students?

Many German public universities charge no general tuition fees for standard degree programs in 15 out of 16 federal states. Students pay a nominal semester contribution (Semesterbeitrag) of approximately €150 to €350 per semester (which often includes regional public transit). However, exceptions exist—such as the state of Baden-Württemberg, which charges non-EU students €1,500/semester, and certain specialized executive master’s programs.
